Death, who takes the form of a young man, asks a media mogul to act as a guide to teach him about life on Earth, and in the process, he falls in love with his guide's daughter. Meet Joe Black is one of those rare moments in time where actor Brad Pitt truly showcases his acting abilities and their pretty damn good, Anthony Hopkins is also terrific as he always is (or at least most of the time). The film is indeed 3 hours long but you never really feel that is long since it's a pretty damn fast movie and it really showcases the dramatic and thriller aspect without having someone killing or just stupid jump scares, this is actually a film with nice style and very well written and it truly knows it. (A+)
The bitching hipster haters who love to castigate this movie seem to forget what fantasy means. This movie is a fantasy. It works. Brad Pitt is amazing. The hating on him in this movie over the last 20 years is totally disgusting.
The only positive thing I can say after seeing this is: I want to get drunk. And that is the only reason why I am giving it two stars. I want to get drunk to forget what I just witnessed. I just wasted 45 minutes on this «masterpiece». I saw the first 45 minutes but then had to FF the rest of it, I found no joy nor entertainment. Consider yourself lucky if you haven't seen it, I cannot unsee this and I am probably scarred for life.
