Maleficent

A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. She rises to be the land's fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal – an act that begins to turn her heart into stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading King's successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom – and to Maleficent's true happiness as well.

Good movie but grossly overrated
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
I have read some of the 1 out of 10 mob. They must have been watching a different movie to me. All this feminist message rubbish. Disney sold out rubbish. Well maybe they got out of bed on the wrong side. It was brilliant. Jolie was brilliant. The evil king Stefan got his richly deserved comeuppance and everyone lived happily ever after. As it should be. Jolie got the balance of strength but vulnerable just right. She tries to be evil but it's hard when you are fundamentally good. Hate makes you feel bad. Love makes you feel good, and we all want to feel good. If you haven't seen it do so ASAP. You won't regret it.
Maleficent ,the evil fairy of Disney's Sleeping Beauty ,is among the scariest Disney villains and my favorite Disney villain.This movie has very good sets and costumes.The characters are altered (Aurora's father,Philip and the fairies especially).This movie robs Maleficent of her evil nature .She reminded me more of an evil fairy from the original fairy tale than Maleficent from the animated movie(who is evil to the core and among the first vilains to say Hell in an animated movie).Best acting came from Angelina Jolie as Maleficent.She is suitably menacing and elegant.Diaval was also good and had a very good chemistry with Maleficent.Overall,good but sorta empty.
In this movie, Aurora did not sleep long like the well known fairy tale. It signifies that this movie does not focus on the princess. It is the story of the "evil" fairy, Maleficent. She suffered from severe fate but healed herself by loving Aurora. It was really funny that the kiss of the prince Philip did not work. Sadly, there may be no love at the first sight. I hope Aurora does not make mistakes with Philip, like Maleficent did.
I've watched this movie twice because, the story, the environment, the costumes, the CGI and the highly convincing acting is simply great. Angelina's performance is incredible; she has to express a complete set of emotions all condensed in the same movie. I particularly like how the story develops and how things turn bitter when you least expect it. I put this movie in the same category of those great fantasy movies such as Willow, The Dark Crystal and Legend. A masterpiece!
