Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
A friend of mine wanted to see this and I agreed to accompany her. I had not read any of the books of Percy Jackson, but it seemed like a sweet deal. Greek mythology and Harry Potter-styled themes. And a mysterious father who is not a typical one. Plus it was directed by Chris Columbus, also responsible for Harry Potters 1 and 2, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Home Alone 1 and 2. What could possibly go wrong? After seeing the movie and later reading the books, I discovered the differences. For one thing, we get preteens in the books and not high schoolers. But it was a nice original take on Greek mythology and Rick Riordan did a better job. The books were so much better. The movie got me interested in the books in the first place and if I hadn't seen the movie, I probably would not have given the books a chance. But I'm a novel fan and I enjoy young adult literature as well as fantasy and science-fiction sagas (and maybe the occasional horror story). Young adult fiction seems like the easiest to read since it's for younger readers. As long as there aren't too many pictures and more words.Anyway, back to the movie. Yes, it does have its flaws, and there were things that could have been explained better. But it's still better than that Clash of the Titans remake. At least this did more justice. If you liked the Rick Riordan books, you might want to skip this because they took a lot of creative liberties. But it's still not a bad adaptation.
It was boring from start to finish. I hate a movie that after your done watching you feel like you wasted time of your life. I was planning on doing marathon and watch all the movies. Now I am just gonna go ahead and delete the second one from now.DONT WATCH THIS movie if you value your life!
It really was awful. It was nothing like the book and was such a major let down after all the suspense and excitement. Honestly disappoitned and I pray someone else redoes this movie properly.
I had read the book and was expecting a decent movie, however, this movie was horrible. Don't waste your time on it. It is completely different from the book and Annabeth looked 20, not 12. I understand that being able to include everything is practically impossible, but adding new stuff is completely stupid. That was two hours of my life that I will never get back
