Pitch Perfect
September. 28,2012 PG-13College student Beca knows she does not want to be part of a clique, but that's exactly where she finds herself after arriving at her new school. Thrust in among mean gals, nice gals and just plain weird gals, Beca finds that the only thing they have in common is how well they sing together. She takes the women of the group out of their comfort zone of traditional arrangements and into a world of amazing harmonic combinations in a fight to the top of college music competitions.

I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
This movie is listed as a "comedy" a "romance" and "music." Unfortunately, its barely one of the three. Comedy - There is maybe one joke that made me laugh (the bit where the guy pulls a rodent out of his pocket way at the beginning) but otherwise I was so bored watching this. Someone being fat is not funny. Someone being gay is not funny. Someone being quiet is not funny. Someone being slightly out of the social norms is not a joke. I would be offended, but they don't go anywhere near far enough with anything for it to even qualify as shock humor. They went pretty far with all the puke (yes there are multiple scenes of projectile vomiting in this movie) and its just really, really gross. Shock humor needs to be funny. There has to be a set up and pay off. There has to be A J O K E. (Also, with gross-out, the characters in the show or movie need to be more grossed out than the audience - That's just a basic writing tip for anyone interested in comedy.) Most of the characters who witness the vomit are pretty cool with it. This movie does not work as a comedy. Romance - This movie isn't a romance. I don't know why its listed as that. Its kind of confusing. Music - This music is basically a series of really short music videos strung together by overlong and boring skits full of bad acting and filler.I wouldn't recommend this movie unless you want to take a nap. Its really boring, painfully unfunny and uncreative. There is really no reason to watch this movie when there are so many better pieces of media you could be watching.
I really enjoyed this first installment of Pitch Perfect. It was by far the best installment of the series. I enjoyed the over the top comedy and the direction of the film. It was very funny, the characters interesting. The plot is very simple, it's a contest movie. But the entertainment value really delivers with the incredible vocal arrangements.
I'm very late to this series, having dismissed it as a teen girl movie. Of course, my teen daughters loved it. When it got a third movie, I thought it might be worth trying out. I was pleasantly surprised! A very good cast with some great music numbers. It wasn't the typical trashy college movie, so it can be enjoyed by the whole family. Also there were a few great laugh out loud moments.
When my girlfriend suggested put this on I mimed blowing my brains out with an imaginary revolver. That was a mistake. This is a great, fun film!An all girl acapella group have to regain their crown by winning a competition. So a motley crew of underdogs is assembled, including our main character, to challenge the superior competition. The characters are heavily stereotyped, and this is the source of a lot of the comedy. I found the characters engaging and lovable, and laughed along with most of the gags. The cynical, misogynistic, judgemental, biased commentators were especially funny. The singing segments are short and sharp and just enough to get your foot tapping without going full blown Mary Poppins.I didn't expect (or particularly want) to enjoy this but I did a lot.My recommendation is that even if this is not your kind of movie force yourself to watch the first fifteen minutes, their is a good chance you will make it to the end with a smile on your face.
