Best movie ever!
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
Barefoot is a different kind rom-com, but it is a rom-com none the less. It uses themes most wouldn't normally think of when writing a rom-com but it works none the less mental health is always a serious issue and remains so in this movie. The main actors in the movie I'd never heard of before but both give strong and convincing performances. I like the story line along with the twist that really makes the movie that much better. I have now watched it somewhere around 10 times and will watch several more times I'm sure. If you want a movie you can watch with your family or to help with the setting for a date night this will work. One of the best I've seen it just works.
Everything in this movie works well together. The acting (which was spot on). The complex character growth is natural and relatable. The directing, soundtrack, musical score, writing, & the plot as a whole made me leave the movie feeling the emotion of love. I just happened on this movie while at home sick from work. Though it is not a complex movie, it does not need to be in order for most people to relate to one, some, or all of the characters. This movie touched on most emotions. Throughout the movie I laughed out loud, cried, was angry & tense, disappointed, stimulated, & relieved. A sign of a well scripted movie (in my humble opinion). This is the feel good movie that you seek out to watch that will make your day better. It is a well rounded romantic comedy! The Perfect date night movie for those that believe their love is a little crazy; whilst the world's view of it is crazier.
I was not aware that this was a remake, so I had no expectations. At the beginning I said "this is an intriguing premise- I hope they do well with it!"- and they certainly did! Evan Rachel Wood was perfect in this role- could have not played the innocent, sweet, naive character any better! Scott Speedman reminded me of Bradley Cooper, but not quite as good, which was a little distracting- but he did fine. JK Simmons and Treat Williams were excellent in supporting roles. A few minor implausibilities, but fewer than most- but overall they hit almost all the right notes. A real sweet movie, about the redemptive power of love, healing the lives of two troubled souls- all a hopeless romantic could want!
Barefoot (2014)You want to like this kind of movie, with a slightly offbeat, romantic, comic plot. I mean, it's a feel good, laugh along intention—that falls a bit flat, especially in the first half. And it's no fault of the two leads, mainly Evan Rachel Wood, who plays a slightly disoriented young woman living for some reason in a mental institution. Across from her is a solid if generic Scott Speedman, who is a troubled rich kid now just a janitor at the same institution. The two, who meet of course unsuspecting what is going to happen, might not have chemistry, and they aren't simmering in any way, but they are compelling as individuals on the screen—that's a lot.The writing is clunky and forced on us, however, both in the overall idea and its lurches and turns and in the details, the dialog, the nuances (the few there are). This kills a lot of the good energy of the actors. Add some very blasé directing, patching together a few parts, glossing over some idiocy, and not quite leveraging the talent on hand, and you have a troubled movie. But shamefully so.And that's why I could keep watching. There is enough latent sincerity here it makes you hang on. And like what does in fact work. There are plot twists and character changes that are completely false, however, so the end result is a kind of let down, even if you feel good about the result at the same time.
