Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Worth it for the cameos alone! Not a good movie in any artistic sense, but if you want pure stupid enjoyment, here you go.
I finally re-watched this. I haven't seen it since it originally aired in 2014, and it's still stupidly awesome. I think it's actually better, campier, sillier and more fun than the original. This one is filled with random cameos from people such as Robert Hays, Matt Lauer, Kelly Osbourne, Kelly Ripa, Al Roker, Billy Ray Cyrus, Judd Hirsch, Jared the Subway guy and many others. This time, the sharknado hits in New York City when Fin Shepard and April Wexler is on tour to promote her new book How to Survive a Sharknado and Other Unnatural Disasters (Which is actually a real book you can buy on Amazon) Fin goes around trying to save his family and friends from this newer and bigger sharknado that can't be stopped by explosives this time. If you love silly cheesy over the top campy B-movies, you'll love SHARKNADO 2: THE SECOND ONE!!!
Side splitting hilarious. This is the kind of movie that was made under the pretence of "because we can" and the results are hilarious. It' a film that doesn't take itself seriously at all and that is the fantastic beauty of it. Physics? nah! Logic? nah! Just sharks in tornadoes causing chaos while our plucky hero and his band of merry men try to kill them in the most creative, "Dead Rising duct tape weapon combo" styles that they can... again. I can see why some people might not watch it but you have to understand that this is the movie equivalent of ordering takeaway and having it delivered. You don't want to think too hard or put much effort into watching it. You just sit back and hate yourself about how much you are enjoying it.
Actually this was a fun film with quick pacing and some interesting CGI effects. However, the newscasters and the TV news shows saved this from being the run of the mill 'disaster' film.I cracked up when Al Roker and Matt really gave a great, great comic yet believable relief from an otherwise run of the mill disaster film. Add their special weather graphics and the movie is worth watching for just this part. Truly funny.IN ADDITIONThe move likes quips but could have been improved by a few tweaks.1)Kelly use her sky high red heels to kill one shark, it was forewarned in an early segment by her showing off her red heels to her co-host. What was needed was a slow motion CU shot of those red high heel coming down on to the shark's head and in slow motion with appropriate sound effect. We could almost hear the shark saying nooooooooo.2)The hero uses a chain saw in one scene to split a shark in half, lengthwise. I expected him to do the "chain saw dance" like in the chain saw movies, but he never did.3)Great scene in the pizza place where a shark comes in and the owner bats the shark into a pizza oven. I expected him to put up a sign that says: "NEW, Shark Pizza soon".4)In one scene the hero says to his friend, "we need a bigger bomb', she should have said, "yeah, like Heavens's Gate".There were some of these missed opportunities, but overall a fun, fast moving film with good homages to other similar movies.
