I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction
Amazing worth wacthing. So good. Biased but well made with many good points.
Blistering performances.
I found nothing good about this film EXCEPT the MUSIC! This soundtrack is phenomenal especially if you like Latin swing/mambo and DRUMS. But the lyrical and over the top emotional stuff is very good too. I want to rescue this soundtrack and give it a deserving film.I did not find the movie funny, satirical or entertaining. I love a good satire as much as the next person but this I just found disturbing at times and a waste of time the rest, despite Peter Coyote. It has been years since I have seen it and I won't give it another try but I cherish the soundtrack which I first heard in a Tower Records in NYC probably 1993. Bought it right away. And that's where I am with Kika.
his universe, his basic ingredients. a fairy tale who becomes in his hand a manifesto. about love, about gestures, about sense of life and force of relationship. nothing new at the first sigh. Victoria Abril in same kind of role of the powerful/seductive woman who impose the order to a complicated/ fragile universe, Peter Coyote as the best choice for Nicholas, Alex Casanovas as a kind of victim who needs the woman's support. adventures, sexuality and cruelty, secrets and strange end are the old solutions for a not comfortable film in the case of Almodovar. but Kika has something different. a strange poetry of scenes, the science of Veronica Forque to give precise nuances to her character in inspired manner.
This was one of the funniest comedies I have ever seen. Almodóvar is in a hilarious, flimsy mood. The convoluted story feels somewhat as if Dario Argento, master of italian giallo, had cooperated with Edika, the not so inhibited french comics maker. Most humour come from the direct, practical and naive manner in which Kika, cosmetologist, handles the most tragic and disturbing situations. Forget about drama - this is a farce, and in the humour lies the usual Almodóvar admiration and wonder over females.
This film was the worst piece of garbage I have ever seen. The worst Almodovar film by far (and I've seen every one but Flower of My Secret and High Heels). No character development whatsoever, the film drags for the first 3/4ths of it, then is wrapped up haphazardly in the last 20 minutes. Rape is again treated nonchalantly by Almodovar, and Veronica Forque, who I'm told by my film professor was supposed to emulate Marilyn Monroe, is both irritating and flaky. Warning: this film has no cinematic value. A real bomb for Almodovar. Watch at your own risk.
