Good concept, poorly executed.
Best movie ever!
The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Thanks to my mom, I've seen this movie way more times than I would ever want to. Its stupid, unfunny, generic, boring, and makes no sense. I would not recommend this movie at all.
***spoilers ahead, but it doesn't matter**** I decided to write a review because must of the bad reviews criticize the fact that the movie is confusing and the plot isn't clear, but that is not really relevant in my opinion.I've enjoyed absurd movies like Funky forest, Ka-boom, or any Monty Phyton, Marx brothers movie, I actually find it better when some or a lot of absurdity is added. But the fact is that this movie is just a try, and it is very sad.Since the first 10 seconds of the movie, I knew it was going to suck, but I was told that I was going to enjoy it a lot, so I watched it entirely. It starts with a murder, and goes straight to the main character, which is this boring loser girl, so stereotyped it looks always fake, and then she is attempted to be murdered, and then we imminently know who the killer is, but since the writers made this so weak and obvious, they start adding stuff in, what I think was sort of an effort to make the movie worthy, but it never takes off, they try and try to make it fun and dynamic, but it's just chopped in disjointed pieces that never match. It comes to my attention the fact that some of the reviewers mention the fast pace in the film, cause, to me, it was slow, maybe cause it never really intrigued me.It's full of clichés, but not in a funny way, looks like they are actually using clichés as resources more than making fun of them. It's full of references to other movies and series (The Fly, The matrix, Iron Man, etc) but it's never in a clever way, it seems like all the pop culture is added just because, and it never gets to the point where references are actually funny or worth added. I laughed just once, and now I don't remember why.The time travel makes no sense at all and it's also not fun or funny, so I guess it was just added to try to make a joke (Riley is the girl who goes down in the school stuffed bear). And as in every other aspect of the movie, I think they were trying to make fun of the horror and comedy genres, but they ended just copying the mistakes, instead of doing intelligent comments on how movies suck, or something.I guess the movie is fun if you enjoy gratuitous references and if just some 90's paraphernalia is shown. If you are used to intelligent script writing, good characters construction and humor built on effective criticism, this movie is not for you. If you enjoy the "Not another teen movie..." kind of humor, this is not as cheesy, yet funny in that way. So as I said before, I think is mediocre and not worth watching.(Yet, a lot of reviews say it's awesome, I never really understood why)
I honestly have no idea why this is a 5 something, funny, great soundtrack, did i say it was funny? Good storyline - bit off the wall, but I didn't want to watch something that reminds me of something else! I do not write reviews (though I do love films probably more than is healthy), mostly because i cant be bothered but this is well worth a watch, don't let that rating put you off!!!!The rating put me off and so did the synopsis!! The synopsis describes the last 30 minutes of the film perhaps????? I just don't get why the rating is so low, decent acting, just decent all rounder, how could people give this a five???Seriously enjoy.
A serial-killer goes on a rampage of murdering high school students. A smörgåsbord of every teen movie ever made set in a high school horror story. That said, the visual and stylistic aspects are out of this world. Sadly, a film can't survive on just that. With no clear mood established, the audience is left confused as to what to feel -- unless you're under the age of 25, media-obsessed and happen to like films that appear surface-cool (i.e. music videos) with one or two "heart-to-heart" moments force-fed into the script. Overall a fun and strange watch if you don't take it too seriously, but not my cup of tea. 6.2/10
