An action-packed slog
Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
A true classic of Shocking and Disturbing Cinema. Guinea Pig: Flowers Of Flesh and Blood is the second and best of the entry of the Japanese series of films. The story is simple a woman is kidnapped and slowly dismembered by a mad man. We get to see every limb slowly and gorily removed from her body with squishy sound effects adding to the brutality we are witnessing on screen. The maniac dawning a samurai helmet and white face paint gives a creepy monologue as to why he is committing such atrocities while he is slowly adding his new bloody trophies to his already large collection.Guinea Pig: Flowers Of Flesh and Blood ranks up there with films like Irreversible, Salo, A Serbian Film, The August Underground Trilogy etc. One can not call themselves a true fan of Extreme Cinema until they have seen this movie. A Must see.
Compared to the first movie, this is is considerably better. It's done far more professional and has a better visual look over it, making this movie more convincing and compelling to watch than the first movie from the Za ginipiggu-series. This movie really looks- and is made like a movie, rather than a cheap and lame snuff-wannabee.The concept remains the same though; A young woman is being kidnapped and held captive, with the pure purpose to torture her in as many different ways as imaginable. It's a rather graphic and gory movie, with some convincing effects but unfortunately not so convincing sound effects. Sometimes the sound effects are unintentionally hilarious, which does take away some of the power of the movie its visuals.Of course it's a totally pointless sadistic gory shocker but the fans of gore simply don't need more. The movie for them will be a memorable and 'enjoyable' experience. The movie is quite short and also the torturing itself is ended pretty quickly when the torturer simply decides to switch over to dismembering his victim pretty early on. The movie could had worked out more interesting and intriguing had it been a bit longer and taken some more time to build up to its 'climax'.Better than the first one but still a pretty pointless movie to watch.6/10http://bobafett1138.blogspot.com/
This is the second addition to the Guinea Pig series, and probably the most infamous. The film follows a young women who is kidnapped by a man in a samurai suit. The young lady finds herself tied to a bed and drugged. The drugs that are given to her not only prevent her from feeling any pain, but in fact makes her enjoy it to a degree. The samurai man begins cutting off limbs and slicing the women up left and right, but he is not doing it to be cruel, he is doing it for beauty. In his eyes its not only the outer appearance of a women that makes her beautiful but it is also what is inside.Personally the film itself was kind of dull, with having virtually not plot at all, but I am amazed by how detailed and realistic the special effects are. The film focuses on every detail of the human body and how it reacts when getting a sharp blade through it, and slicing it apart. I was jaw dropped by what I saw. Like I have said in previous posts I personally didn't find this film to be very disturbing, but I have become almost completely desensitized do to viewing films like these over the years. I think for the average horror fan that this would be a landmark film in their horror viewing, and would definitely open their eyes to something they have not seen before. But for the hardcore gorehounds such as myself it is good to just have a copy of this film for its novelty.
In the early 90s, Hollywood bad-boy Charlie Sheen contacted the FBI believing he had stumbled upon a genuine 'snuff' movie. What he actually had in his possession was, in fact, Flowers of Flesh and Blood, the second in a series of Japanese extreme-gore films collectively known as Guinea Pig.The film that preceded it, The Devil's Experiment, was an intentional piece of pseudo snuff: fake torture and death filmed in such a way so that audiences might mistake it for real. But Flowers of Flesh and Blood, with its confident direction and controlled camera-work, skilled lighting and decent editing, is far too technically accomplished a film to be totally convincing as a snuff movie. You would think that Charlie Sheen, being in the film industry himself, would have known better! The movie's storyline, such as it is, follows a lunatic as he abducts a woman, sedates her, and then proceeds to reduce her to bloody chunks of meat, using saws, hammers, chisels and axes. The effects are extremely realistic and shot in extreme close up (so that the viewer won't miss any of the gloriously gory detail).Wearing a Samurai helmet and a rubber apron, he begins by hacking off the drugged-up victim's hands. Then he removes the arms at the shoulder and takes a saw to her legs. With her limbs removed, he eviscerates her and chops off her head off with an axe. As a final touch, he scoops out the eyes from the severed head, using a spoon.Without much of a plot, it's hard to describe Flowers of Flesh and Blood as a great film, but it is a highly effective and relentlessly stomach churning experience, and so gets a good rating from me. Gorehounds everywhere will lap it up; everyone else will probably lose their lunch.
