The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

The Doctor Who specials year-and-a-bit from Christmas '08 to New Years '10 was a mixed bag. While "The Next Doctor" is a good episode it's not great and "Planet of the Dead" and "The End of Time" were both rubbish it did have one excellent outing with "The Waters of Mars" to make it worthwhile. Make that two good episodes because there's also this hidden gem that too few people got to experience.What we have here with "Dreamland" is an interesting story about an evil race of bug-aliens trying to capture a slightly less evil alien from Area 51 while at the same time preparing to destroy the whole of Planet Earth just 'cos. Their motives for destroying Earth really is just that they can, they don't want to invade or conquer. Go with it because that is the central crux of the plot. There's a certain level of cliché to be had with these aliens and the rest of the story doesn't help much either with its twisted military men and stereotypical Native Americans but that's just part of the fun. Because fun is all this is ever meant to be, surely the fact that it's animated should be a clue!The story's not perfect but it's still good and it will keep your interest throughout with non-stop action from the word go and mostly-brilliant voice-acting of the cast. As ever, David Tennant is great and this is one of the all-too-rare occasions where the 10th Doctor is not insufferable, although something is lost because we actually can't see Tennant on screen but have to deal with his poorly animated likeness. The animation is the worst thing about this production because it just doesn't work. It's the 3D Pixar-esque style on display here but it just fails miserably. However if you can see past that it still manages to tell the story and it is, at least, consistent throughout and by the half-hour mark you'll have got used to it. This is further proof that it takes more than looking great to tell a good story.Phil Ford's script is excellent, it makes me sad that his writing for this show only consists of two other episodes besides this one. David Tennant shows us once again how good his Doctor could have been if his writers had handled him better more consistently. I would recommend this to fans of the show.Final Score: 8/10

This is a really unlovely made show. The Characters look like my first character I animated with blender. You often see objects go through other objects. The graphics look like Gta vice city which could be better made in a movie made in 2009.Sure at the first glance you think that it looks interesting, when you see the skull of a cow in the dessert but then you see characters made as stiff as hell..... A character must move when he or she stands still....series. There is no love for the detail at all. Sure I couldn't make it better but, come on, when there would be one animator who knew how people move the whole animation would have become smoother. Sure a fan loves the story, but it's nothing compared with the real doctor. When he uses his screw driver, for example, he doesn't do any anatomic impassible movements, even when the anatomy of a time lord is different..... And the change of attitude of the general only by trying to convince him, wouldn't happen in the series made in 2005....The end was like the end of a really bad movie too.... The one thing which they made good was the character of the doctor. He was like the doctor made in the 20s.

In spite of the presence of David Tenant, this cartoon fails to come anywhere near the live show. The script feels lazy, as though it was written by people who knew it wasn't going to be seen by as many people as the regular show, and thus didn't want to bother putting too much work into it.The animation is dreadful, at the very beginning it looks like the animation is good, because the scenery and props look good. But the stiff computer-animated characters are so cheaply and poorly done that it is painful to even look at them.I'm a big fan of the series, but I am not a big fan of this dreck.

I just finished watching Doctor Who Dreamland animated miniseries, and well i think it was great, it was vibrant, entertaining, and exciting.The basic story of this little mini series is based on area 51 and its legend of being an alien hot spot in the middle of the 19th century. The basic story of this doctor who animation is an alien invasion type story with several different aliens (greys, etc) and also plays on some of the common myths of area 51 all wrapped up in the story but i don't want to go too much into it but it is true to the Doctor Who fashion and style, even though i prefer the live action doctor who much more this animation was still highly enjoyable.
