Based on Jack London's autobiographical novel, "Martin Eden" tells the story of a poor and unschooled sailor (Martin Eden), who unexpectedly meets Ruth Morse, a magnetic young woman of means and education. Their unconventional attraction upends both lives and propels themes of impossible love, pursuit of the American Dream, and the quest for a comfortable place in an inconstant world.

It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
