The documentary film 62.a shows the development path of Slovenian sign language in the school system. The education of deaf children has left lifelong consequences due to ossified teaching and violation of basic rights to use sign language. Shocking personal confessions reveal how the ban on the use of the mother tongue in education had a fatal impact on the deaf linguistic minority. As a result of the linguistic genocide, which lasted for an entire century, all conditions were established for the final extinction of the Slovenian sign language. The deaf community, with the help of its representative disability organization and societies, united in efforts to prevent this from happening. Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.
