Covid-19 has made it even harder to be perfect than it already was. Here is a film that shows us how to do it. A remake of Jørgen Leth’s film from 1967, which, with a gracefully choreographed body language, places itself between dance and performance - with social distancing and masks, of course. However, the perfectionism of the black-and-white aesthetics is just as uncompromising in Maia Sørensen and Kristina Daurova’s update, which with understated humour takes a look at what it takes to be a human being (perfect or not) during a pandemic, from private dinner parties to the public space.

Striving to visualize the physical and psychological manifestations of his disease, Dean ponders the interrelated themes of time, aging and illness in a number of new works. When his partner, artist Martha Fleury, is diagnosed with an aggressive form of ovarian cancer, he folds her threatening tumour into his installations as well. Creating works of various scales, including defunct animatronic figures from a decommissioned Ontario Place amusement ride, he evokes a sense of wonder and awe. Stratum 2: The Asthenosphere
This is a film both about the spectacle and the space, about how the spectacle has caused the mutation of the (physical and phycological) space in which we reside. This film is determined to be the ‘film on space’ of our times, an epic theater, the general observation of the geological structure of this time. I therefore invent or re-invent some terms for my purpose: Archae(now)logy; Ruinology; space bankruptcy; theater of life -- theater of cruelty -- theater of spectacle; the body-film; the New Berlin Wall - Iron Curtain; and “refugees without camps”, ‘the plants”, “the ghosts,” the asthenosphere, dark energy... I have stolen a great amount of found footages/ready materials or already existed films. This “stealing” is exactly the way to get connected with history and the history of film, to construct an “echo film”.

Laura and Malik are tired of being in an insecure and indefinable love affair. They are therefore part of a cinematic experiment to find out whether they should call themselves boyfriends or go their separate ways. With the help of others in the same situation, they reconstruct episodes from the four years they have been together, record them in the real locations, and show them to each other in a movie theater. Through the movies-in-the-movie, Laura and Malik rediscover each other and confront their demons to find out why they can neither escape nor give in to each other. But in the end, they have to make a final decision.
