Venus de Milo Disarming Beauty
Venus de Milo Disarming Beauty
The Venus de Milo is a star of the Louvre Museum. Millions of visitors flock to pay homage to her every year. A canon of classical beauty, her body is astonishingly sensual. The many mysteries surrounding the story of her creation further enhance her aura. But is this enough to explain the undying infatuation and inspiration that it has never ceased to arouse, the object of so much desire? From Auguste Rodin to Jim Dine, from Salvador Dali to Beyoncé, from Buster Keaton to Brigitte Bardot, through the eyes of her admirers, the words of experts, artists’ projects and feminist claims, this film revisits the history of the Venus de Milo, to lift the veil on one of the most beautiful enigmas of the art world.

Ode to R.G. Springsteen
Ode to R.G. Springsteen
Daily dedications to a minor artisan of the classical Hollywood western. Each segment was originally a kind of letter, a private correspondence, sent in fragments to a friend over a few weeks—an ode to R.G. but also to B.C. (an ode to cinema, to everyday life, and to the cinephilic fantasy of their becoming indistinguishable).

where we used to sleep
where we used to sleep
Valeria is the sole inhabitant of a small Romanian village, deserted due to the tons of mud from the nearby copper mine that have flooded the area, raising the level of the polluted local lake and drowning everything in their path. Only the church spire is now visible, strongly reminiscent of our own “weeping meadow.” With fortitude, stoicism, and courage, the elderly woman, accompanied by her few animals and some citizens who ask her to do what seems reasonable, refuses to leave her land, which now resembles a dystopian thriller. A disturbing socio-ecological documentary that revolves around its central protagonist, who literally gives lessons in life, dignity, and perseverance, standing tall in the face of utter destruction. The landscape photography is stunning, with the camera capturing images that balance between eerie beauty and total devastation.
