Realm of Reverberations
For more than two decades, internationally acclaimed artist Chen Chieh-jen has illuminated the deep impact of power on bodies and architecture. Here he explores a pair of sites built by the Japanese colonial government in the early 20th century: the Losheng Leprosy Sanatorium and the Taipei Prison. The first was on the outskirts of Taipei, the second in the heart of the city. Both were used for controlling marginal populations; both continued to operate long after the Japanese left; and both were eventually torn down for urban redevelopment. The story is about husband and wife who have a cold relationship. The wife is pregnant and the husband does not like to have a child and he is in doubt whether to tell her or not. In the meantime, the girl who is a photographer gets a project in a studio which is owned by a famous model. During her job, she finds out that the model (owner) has cancer and is depressed and waiting for his death. The girl gives him the hope and affection and tries to make friendly relationship with him. The husband got to know the relationship and thinks that she is cheating on him. He commits to killing her but if he could not succeed and during the police investigation, he tells his story but finds out that it was all misunderstanding.

The story begins with an anonymous Glaswegian artist-philanthropist who intends to bring the transatlantic ocean liner into the heart of the city and convert it into a new home for the Glasgow School of Art. Designed and built amid the social and industrial upheaval of the 1960s, the luxury liner returns to a city undergoing extensive change under the auspices of urban regeneration. From its moorings in Dubai, the ship passes through the Suez Canal, encountering refugee boats in the Mediterranean, oil rigs in the North Sea, disused shipyards on the Clyde and emerging artist enclaves in Glasgow. A soundtrack by cellist and composer Oliver Coates accompanies the ship on its final European cruise. Continuing Lek’s use of architectural media as a means of social critique, this site-specific simulation transforms the QE2 from a symbol of heavy industry into an institution for art.
Drums of Resistance
When ex-Yugoslavia began to fall apart, the Serbian regime banned Kosovar Albanians from participating in public life. Albanian employees across public institutions were fired. Albanian media outlets were closed down. Many elementary and high schools were closed to Albanian students and the entire university system was shut down. During the 1990's in Kosovo, teaching resumed in private apartments, houses and basements stores. This documentary shows how a parallel society and reality was organized. It shows how segregation and apartheid became the norm. Besa Luci and Mathieu Jouffre wrote the script for this challenging film together. In it people are in a relaxed atmosphere: eating, drinking, chatting and revisiting vividly one of the most exciting as well as tragic periods in the history of Kosovo.
